The given image depicts how electricity is produced using fossil fuel.
Overall, there are four main stages in the generation of electricity: burning of coal, producing purified syngas, operating turbines, and creating electricity.
First of all, coal is led into a furnace where it is burned in an oxygen-rich environment. This process creates syngas and slag as a waste. The raw syngas then goes through a process to remove impurities such as CO2, Mercury and Sulphur. Purified syngas is then used to rotate a gas turbine, which operates a generator to produce electricity. The hot exhaust gas from the turbine is then collected in a heat recovery steam generator system where it is broken down into steam and flue gases. The flue gases are released into the air while the steam travels into a steam turbine to run another generator and produce energy. All the electricity from these processes enters the national power grid.\
