Enough, Too, So, Such

I. Enough

S + be + Adj + enough (for somebody) + to V

Example: Most of the students could do the test because it’s easy.

=> The test is easy enough to be done by most of the students.

S + V + Adv + enough (for somebody) + to V

Example: He played well and was recruited into the national team.

=> He played well enough to be recruited into the national team.

S + V + enough + N + to V

Example: He was able to afford a house with a swimming pool.

=> He had enough money to afford a house with a swimming pool.

II. Too

S + be + too + Adj (for somebody) + to V

Example: The temperature is very hot. I can’t bear it.

=>The temperature is too hot.

S + V + too + Adv (for somebody) + to V

Example: The band played badly. No one wanted to stay and listen to them.

=> The band did not play too well.

III. So

S + be + so + Adj + that + S + V

Example: The kid is very smart. He could solve these math problems.

=>The kid is so smart that he could solve these math problems.

S + V + so + Adv + that + S + V

Example: My drink is very hot, so I can’t drink it.

=> My drink is so hot that I can't drink it.

IV. Such

S + be/V + such + (a/an) N + that S + V

Example: The child is so naughty. He is often told off by his mother.

=> He is such a naughty kid that he's often told off by his mother.

The weather was very bad. We couldn’t go out at all.

=> It was such bad weather that we couldn't go out at all

V. Other structures with so and such

So + Adj/Adv + Inversion + that

Example: The house was so expensive that I couldn’t buy it.

=> So expensive the house was that I couldn't buy it.

She played the violin so horribly that I had to put on headphones.

=> So horribly she played the violin that I had to put on headphones.

S + be + such that, Such + be + S + that

Example: The damage was so heavy that the government had to rebuild the city.

=> The damage was such heavy that the government had to rebuild the city.

=> Such heavy was the damage that the government had to rebuild the city.
